The overarching objective of the MAGNIFY project is to transition the recently developed and patented photonic integrated circuit-based Erbium doped waveguide amplifiers (EDWA) from a lab prototype to a demonstrator (TRL 6), which will be used for early access demonstrator studies with telecommunication companies and enabling iterative feedback.

The aim in addition to technology maturation – which will be carried out in two key areas of coherent communications and microwave photonics – is to develop the basis for commercialization via competitor analysis, market study, trade fair participation, and IP build-up.
